Afinia Lives On...

Well, as you may have noticed, Afinia went quiet for a while.  There are many reasons for our quietude.  Allow me to explain it as follows:

Secretly we were working on a

We made a strategic

A number of external circumstances

We were terrible at marketing and selling furniture.  We had no idea what we were doing.  It was fun, but we didn't put the money in to making it go.  For a brief period of time, we sold a whole bunch of hammocks. And a few realflame rocks.  We were proud of our lineup but it turns out electronics guys have no business selling couches.  So, onward and upward.

Fortunately, some cool stuff came along that we had been working on.  3D printers (which we used for prototyping in our parent company) suddenly became accessibly economical and popular, and we've made a killing selling a really good 3d printer that works right out of the box for just $1,500.  Since we already know a lot about printers, robotics, and manufacturing prototypes, this was an easy fit.  And it's going gangbusters!  Partly because the folks at Make Magazine loved it and are telling everyone about it.

Additionally, since we've been working in the inkjet business, we've finished a really cool, really fast label printer based on the Memjet wide-printhead patent.  Awesome, right?

Now, in the throes of business reinvention, I haven't written much. Partly because writing about the process with my sense of humor would be a liability for me with my employer.  Suffice it to say, exciting things are happening.  And I'm back.  In the unofficial, unsanctioned Afinia blog about entrepreneurship in an established company.

Talk to you soon.

Aaron
